Weigh in on the results of the visioning process through our online survey. Spanish language version.

Welcome

Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon has made the Jordan River one of his top priorities. The river faces significant challenges but has enormous potential to be restored and revitalized as a community, recreational, economic, and ecological amenity. To that end, Salt Lake County is working with Envision Utah on a comprehensive, three-county visioning process called Blueprint Jordan River: A Lake to Lake Vision.

Thirty-six years have passed since the completion of the last comprehensive plan for the Jordan River corridor, Jordan River: An Alternative.  Since then, many plans and studies have been completed ranging from municipal open space, land use, and trails plans, to river-wide environmental studies.

Blueprint Jordan River aims to bring all these pieces together and identify inconsistencies and address them to ensure that all the various efforts are working hand-in-hand. Ultimately, Blueprint Jordan River aims to make the river corridor a central amenity of our region, an area that draws residents and visitors to accessible outdoor recreation, natural beauty, wildlife, and interesting places to work, shop, and live.

The jurisdictions along the Jordan River that make policies and investments affecting it have the most to gain from a river that achieves its full potential.  For this reason, Blueprint Jordan River is a partnership among the 15 municipalities and 3 counties that border the river. The partners are the conveners for the visioning process. They in turn will rely on stakeholers,  user groups, technical experts, and the public to help shape the vision.

As the plan develops, we invite you to learn how you can contribute and make it a reality. If you have questions or require additional information, please contact Gabriel Epperson at Envision Utah (801) 303-1456 or Lorna Vogt, Salt Lake County Open Space (801) 468-3571.
